Colston’s School has been celebrating impressive GCSE results today, with nearly 20% of GCSEs being awarded A* grade, compared with a national average of 7%. 96% of Colston’s students achieved five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C and one in five students achieved the equivalent of straight A grades or better, with 73% achieving five or more grades at A* to B.
Headmaster, Jeremy McCullough, said “With results as good as these it is easy to overlook the holistic nature of Colston’s. It is in individual stories that the excitement is to be found: the B that might have been a C were it not for the extra support offered, or the A* that was never even dreamed possible. Our GCSE candidates, and their teachers, have worked very hard and are delighted with the outcomes, and I am very proud of them all.”
Individual successes included Laura Baxter, Ryan Danvers, Jonathan Dobson, Ben Fisher, Max Garland, Abigail Langbridge, Matt Plenty, Sophie Reed and Lucy Xu who achieved exclusively A* and A grades.
These students will be joined in Colston’s Sixth Form by a very talented group from other schools. Together they will embark on the school’s Future Leaders programme, designed to equip students with all the soft skills that employers and universities value so highly, as well as their A level and BTEC courses.
